Whenever I see a design that really grabs my attention

I soon attempt at breaking it down into components and movements that are small and simple enough to reveal some of the underlying structure and bits of the chaîne opératoire. In some way it is similar to figuring out the ratios and proportions that make up a harmony: there’s no need to do it to experience the harmony itself

but that’s the way to get a more profound understanding of the hows and whys.
